Cremation Options

Cremation can be affordable, but that doesn’t mean it’s less meaningful. Cremation is often more cost-effective than traditional burial, generally because cemetery plots, vaults, and caskets aren’t involved. Families choose cremation for many reasons such as flexibility, spiritual beliefs, simplicity, or environmental concerns.  Regardless of budget, every family we serve receives the same level of care and professionalism.

Cremation- The Process Itself

Cremation is a process that serves as an alternative to traditional burial, involving the use of high heat to reduce the body to its basic elements, typically in the form of ashes. This takes place in a cremation chamber where the body is subjected it to intense temperatures.  The remaining fragments are further processed into a fine, whitish-gray, sand-like consistency, known as cremated remains or ashes.  Families have numerous options for honoring the remains- placed in an urn for the home, in a columbarium niche, or a traditional cemetery plot; scattered in a meaningful location; incorporated into memorial jewelry; or preserved through many other creative alternatives.

Cremation Service Options

A common misconception about cremation is that it limits the type of service you can have. Cremation simply refers to the method of final disposition and does not determine how a life is honored. Families may choose to have a traditional funeral with their loved one present prior to cremation, or hold a memorial service afterward with the urn present. The possibilities truly are endless.

  • Traditional Cremation

The body is present in a casket for viewing and/or a traditional funeral service.  Cremation follows the visitation or service and once the process is complete, the remains may be kept, buried, scattered, or placed in a columbarium.

  • Cremation with Memorial Service

The cremation takes place prior to the service, and the remains may be present for the service in an urn.  Following the service, the remains may be taken to the cemetery for ennichement or burial, kept by the family, scattered or a mixture of multiple of these options.

  • Family Farewell

The immediate family has an opportunity to view their loved one prior to the cremation.

  • Direct Cremation

The cremation takes place and no services follow.

What Can be Done with the Cremated Remains?

Cremated remains carry deep emotional and symbolic meaning. They’re a physical connection to someone you loved, and many families find great comfort in deciding how to care for them.  Some choose to keep the remains at home in a decorative urn. Others scatter them in a meaningful location or place them in a cemetery niche or burial plot. Some families choose keepsake urns or memorial jewelry, allowing multiple family members to keep a small portion close by. We provide guidance and support for all of these choices. Cremation doesn’t end the journey, it opens the door to many meaningful ways to remember.
