William Merrill Thomas, age 94, of Conyers, died July 12, 2022. Born in Atlanta, he was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson College of Law and was an accountant for over 50 years. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during WWII and later in The U.S. Air Force. Merrill enjoyed playing golf, reading, eating barbeque and spending time with his children and grandchildren and attending ballgames they participated in whenever he could. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Maxine McBrayer Thomas. Surviving are his daughters, Cathy Bishop of Locust Grove, and Paula Kidd of Conyers; son, Wayne Thomas and his wife, Michelle, of Ranger; grandchildren, Matt Kidd, Haley Wilson, Teagan Bishop, Joe Bishop, Cody Thomas, Briana Thomas, David Thomas, and Layla Mann; great-grandchildren, Katelynn and Mateo; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service with Military Honors will be held 11 o'clock, Wednesday, July 20, at Georgia National Cemetery, with Pastor Tim Trotter officiating.
