William 'Bill' Carroll Davidson, age 85, died Friday, June 28, 2019. Born in Lithonia, Georgia to Keay and Bess Davidson, he attended Lithonia High School and Darlington Preparatory School, where he was an avid sportsman, participating in basketball and football. He later graduated from Georgia Tech receiving a Degree in Mechanical Engineering. In his early years, Bill was involved in the Davidson family business (Stone Mountain Grit) and later worked as an engineer, consultant and investor. He was a member of the Lithonia First United Methodist Church for many years. Bill enjoyed attending Georgia Tech football games; coaching youth baseball and football; gardening; and family trips to Florida and across the country. His love for Lake Burton was introduced to him at an early age at the Athens YMCA camp where he discovered its beauty and later in life would visit its beauty again, building a vacation home and sharing boat rides with family and friends. But most of all, Bill loved spending time with his family, especially the joy of his granddaughters, and oh, how he loved strawberry shortcake and apple pie. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Keay Davidson, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Lovingood; brothers, Dr. John 'Jack' Keay Davidson, III and Dr. Charles Warren Davidson; and sister, Laura Elizabeth 'Betty' Rice. Surviving are his devoted wife of 55 years, Louise Somers Davidson; son, Scott Somers Davidson of Woodinville, Washington; daughter, Rebecca Louise Davidson of Grayson; brother, Dean Davidson and his wife, Marie, of Vero Beach, FL; granddaughters, Lauren Aspen Davidson and Shannon Ella Davidson; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held 3 o'clock, Saturday, July 13, at Lithonia First United Methodist Church with Dr. Gil Watson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 o'clock at Henry Funeral Home.
