Altus Wilbur "Bow" Burt, age 76, of Rutledge, died September 11, 2015. Born in Dawson County, raised in Lithonia and when he was 18, he met the love of his life, Sharon Joiner. They were married for 54 years and they have one son, Wesley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley T. and Jamie Burt; brothers, Andy Burt, Tom Burt and his wife, Moncelia, Ralph Burt and his wife, Margaret, and John Burt; sisters, Estelle Hodge and Irene Hammonds. He is survived by wife, Sharon; and son, Wesley and Angela Corbin; brother-in-law, James Hammonds, all of Rutledge; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Brenda and Doug Melancon of Cypress, TX; sister-in-law , Melvie Joiner, of High Springs, FL; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many very special friends. Bow loved his family and friends very much. He spent most of his adult life as a sub-contractor laying bricks. He loved bluegrass music and his favorite things to do were to go to bluegrass festivals, car shows and gun and knife shows. A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock, Monday, September 14, in the Lithonia Chapel of Henry Funeral Home, with Reverend Nelson Goddard officiating. Interment will follow at 3 o'clock at Bailey Gardens Cemetery in Rutledge. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to your favorite charity.
