Waymon Edward Fields, age 78, of Newborn, Georgia, died February 5, 2024.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia on February 12, 1945, Waymon was a creative soul who loved nothing more than to shape wood into beautiful creations with his skilled hands. As a self-employed carpenter, he left his mark across Georgia, with many churches benefiting from his skilled trim work. Waymon had passion for hunting, fishing, and shooting guns. He was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church and was a man who had a genuine love for his family and a heart that was always ready to help anyone in need.
Waymon was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Sue Fields; his father, J.P. Fields; his mother, Mary Whatley Fields; his son, Dwayne Edward Fields; grandsons, Joshua Dennis Fields and Andy Fields; brothers, James Fields, Preacher Bobby Fields, and David Fields.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Carol Fields; children, Dennis Eugene Fields, Douglas Howard (Tonya) Fields, Waymon Glen (Wendy) Fields, Andrew Paul (Donna Jean) Fields, Brandon Humphrys, and Kevin (Laura) Humphrys; 22 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A funeral service for Waymon will be held 2 o'clock, Saturday, February 10, 2024, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia, and interment following in Lithonia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, February 9, 2024 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home, 6833 Church Street, Lithonia, GA 30058.
