Walter C. Kimsey, age 66, of Douglasville, died January 30, 2017. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Atlanta and studied Political Science at DeKalb College. Walter enjoyed fishing and had a great interest in guns. He served his country honorably in the United States Army, where he received several medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Gallantry Cross with Palm Medal. Walter worked for Fed Ex for 14 years where he worked as a truck driver and was well respected by his fellow workers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Ailene Kimsey; and brother, Alan Kimsey. Surviving are his son, Todd Kimsey, and his wife, Tasha, of Snellville; grandchildren, Colin and Aiden Kimsey; sister-in-law, Hilda Kimsey; niece, Andrea Cartledge and her husband, Denny, Of Conyers; nephew, David Kimsey of Mansfield; and Bob and Linda Lozier of Douglasville, who were more like family than friends. A memorial service will be held 11 o'clock, Saturday, February 4, 2017, in the Lithonia Chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Pastor Guy Priester officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
