Virginia Carolyn Kirkpatrick George, age 91, of Lithonia, Georgia, died October 30, 2024. Carolyn was a devoted mother and homemaker. She spent several years creating straw kitchen witches for local stores from her home and later worked in a local deli. She had a passion for painting ceramics and quilting, often spending hours on end with neighbors or anyone else who shared her love for the craft. Music was a significant part of her life as she enjoyed good bluegrass, dancing, and playing the piano. Additionally, she enjoyed playing the lottery. She was known for her love of attention and socializing, never meeting a stranger. For many years, her favorite thing to do was EAT, and it brought her much joy to enjoy LONG leisurely early dinners with friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Essie Leah Kirkpatrick; brother, Charles Kirkpatrick; sisters, Mildred Wigley, Doris Barnes, Joyce Sills, Thelma Sills, Janice Bunn, Sandra Sellers; grandson, Dean Tucker; great-grandson, Jeffrey Hydock; and her loving daughter, Celeste Dysart.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 73 years, Charles George; sons and daughters-in-law, Tony & Rita George, Marty & Sandra George, Scott & Jeanine George; daughters and sons-in-law, Reba Tucker, Jennifer & Billy Ray Ison, Don Dysart; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A funeral service will be held 1 o'clock, Friday, November 1, 2024, in the chapel of the Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia, with Elder Herb Newsome officiating and interment following in the Parker Cemetery, Conyers. The family will receive friends at the Henry Funeral Home prior to the service on Friday from 11:30-1:00. Flowers are accepted or contributions may be made in her memory to Magnolia House of Conyers.
