Toni Stephens Adams, born in 1944 in Michigan and raised in Georgia, lived a life defined by faith, compassion, and service to others. She graduated from Decatur High School and was actively involved in school activities, including music and pageants (being crowned the first Atlanta Junior Miss), before marrying in 1963 and raising three children.
Fulfilling a lifelong calling, Toni pursued a degree, while raising 3 children, from Kennesaw State School of Nursing, graduating with the highest honors in 1974. She served in many positions throughout her career including pediatric, ICU, and surgical nursing but found her greatest purpose as a hospice nurse. She considered this work her ministry, caring not only for patients but also for their families, while sharing her deep love for Jesus.
Toni was a devoted Christian, serving as a deacon at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in her early life, spending much time studying Scripture and showing generosity toward others. Her faith remained unwavering through every season of her life.
She had a vibrant personality and found joy in many things: music, dancing, crafting, shopping, and spending time with family and friends. Whether creating wreaths, sharing gifts, or expressing gratitude to those around her, Toni’s kindness and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Above all, Toni was a loving mother and grandmother who instilled in her family the values of faith, kindness, hard work, and unity. Her legacy is one of love, strength, and steadfast belief in God’s faithfulness.
She is now at peace in the presence of the Lord, whom she loved so dearly.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Willie and Jacqueline Wagnon; and husband, Donald Adams. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Shelly (Tom) Anderson, Scott (Donna) Stephens, Sloan (Jennifer) Stephens; grandchildren, Jack Anderson, Brad Anderson, Alex (Alex) Grossman, Abbey Stephens, Sam Stephens; great-grandson, Caden Grossman; siblings, Kathy (Wayne) Bailey, Arthur (Cheryl) Wagnon, Vic (Lori) Wagnon; nieces, nephews and extended family.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Toni’s life will be held 11 o’clock, Wednesday, April 1, 2026 in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Pastor Amy Todd officiating. Private family interment will follow at Hillandale Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10-11 AM.
