Thornton E. Cowan, age 87, of Lithonia, died July 29, 2014. He served his country during WWII in the US Army and was retired from Consolidated Freight Lines. He was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, LuAnn Cowan; son-in-law, David Kennedy. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Henrietta Mize Cowan, daughters, Celene Cowan Kennedy of Conyers, Katrina Cowan of McDonough; sons, Dean Cowan of McDonough, Van Cowan and his wife Cheryl of Grayson; brother, Edward Cowan of Dawsonville, grandchildren, Christopher (Katie) Cowan, Ashley Dixon, Lindsay (Blake) Bridges, great grandchildren; Rylee and Sadie; nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2 o'clock Thursday in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenneth Hughes and Rev. Loyal Clay officiating.
