Thomas Edward Silvey, age 79, of Conyers, died Wednesday, August 22, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was a faithful member of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Rutledge for many years. Tom enjoyed working with his hands by building additions on to his house and decks for other people. His grandchildren were a special delight to him and he enjoyed taking them fishing, bike riding as well as attending their sports events. Tom served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and was a member of American Legion Post 77 in Conyers. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 33 years, Mary Ann; brothers, James and William Silvey. Surviving are his wife, Dianne Smallwood Silvey; daughter, Janice Silvey of Indian Trail, NC; son, Jeff Silvey and his wife, Wendy, of Madison; step-daughter, Kelly Dianne Harvey and her husband, Dan, of Covington; step-son, David Smallwood and his wife, Kristen, of Moscow, Idaho; grandchildren, Jordan Astles, Caleb Astles, Blake Silvey, Emma Silvey, Courtney Hayden, Jared Astles, Kara Astles, Savannah Perkins, Grace Smallwood and Stephen Smallwood; great-grandchildren, Carter Jay and Charlee Quinton. A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock, Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Philadelphia Baptist Church, 4031 Davis Academy Road, Rutledge, Georgia 30663, with Rev. Stephen Chambers and Rev. Cecil Holcombe officiating. Interment service will be held 2 o'clock, Sunday, August 26, at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, 3594 Stone Mountain Hwy, Snellville, GA, 30039. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 Friday, August 24, at Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia.
