Thomas Cates

Thomas Andrew "Andy" Cates, of Newborn, Georgia, died July 26, 2025, at the age of 76. He was born in Lithonia during the fall of 1948 to the late Millard and Mattie Cates. A hardworking plumber by trade, Andy dedicated over 30 years of service to the UA Local Union 72. He took immense pride in his work and in the provision he made for his family. His hobbies included watching Westerns, working in his yard, socializing with friends and spending precious time with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren who lovingly called him "Pops". Andy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Cates; parents; brother, Don; and sister, Sandra. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Donna & Buck Wilder, Angela & Kim Morris, Christine Roysden, Keith & Jeannie Clanton, Gary Morris; grandchildren, Christy, Nycole, Shauna, Laura, Frank, Chris, Jacob, Alex, Colleen, Devin, Samuel, Foster, Deven; a host of great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and extended family. A graveside service for Andy will be held 12 o'clock Noon, Friday, August 1, 2025, at Hillandale Memorial Park, Lithonia. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 AM on Friday prior to the service at Henry Funeral Home, 6833 Church Street, Lithonia, GA.
