Shirley Joann Watkins, of Conyers, Georgia, died September 28, 2023, at the age of 88. She was born in Lithonia, Georgia to the late John and Cherri Binion. Shirley was known for her big heart, always caring for others, and she cherished the moments spent with her family. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing, watching hummingbirds and taking spontaneous trips. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Watkins, Sr.; sisters, Kathryn Roberts, Eva Jones; brothers, Joe Binion, John Binion; and most recently, son, Timothy Rex Watkins. Survivors include her son and daughters-in-law, Lavette and Sharon Watkins, Sandi Watkins; sisters, Faye Mixon, Judy Norton, Jane Johnson, Ginnie McDonald, Sheila Haro; grandchildren, Tara Gaddis, Chuck Watkins, Timothy Watkins, Kristin Paterno; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Watkins, Lexy Gaddis, Tinsley Turner, Fisher Watkins, Levi Watkins, Laila Watkins, Sofia Parrish; great-great granddaughter, Paisley Watkins; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 2 o'clock Friday, October 6, 2023, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia, with Pastor Gene Minor officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral Home from 1-2 PM.
