Samuel Dixon McCook, Jr., age 90, of Milledgeville, formerly of Lithonia, died March 10, 2022. Born in Lithonia, Georgia, to Cora Belle Reagin McCook and Samuel Dixon McCook, Sr., he was raised in Lithonia and was a graduate of Lithonia High School, class of 1950. Sam served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps, took pride in being a marine and called himself a 'jarhead'. He later worked as a pipe fitter for Norfolk Southern Railroad until his retirement. He loved spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren; traveling with his wife; fishing; his church, Turner Hill Baptist; his dear wife; and most of all, he loved the Lord. Sam was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty Ann Worley McCook; his parents; and daughters, Twila Ann McCook and Cynthia Dale McCook Zalinsky. Surviving are his daughter, Nikki McCook of Covington; sister, Claudine Kearns and her husband, Bernard, of Covington; granddaughters, Emmaleigh S. Mooney and her husband, Rory, of Madison, and Samantha Terrell and her husband, Drake, of Eatonton; great grandchildren, Matthew, Maci, Madeline and Meadow Grace; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held 1 o'clock, Saturday, March 12, at Turner Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Lanny Myers officiating.
