Ruby Dell Maddox Joiner Singleton, age 93, of Decatur, died April 7, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kelly and Jimmie Leigh Maddox of Dublin, GA. Raised in the community of Brewton, at age 16, she met and married Benjamin Millard Joiner, the father of her children. They were married 27 yrs. when he died March 2. 1964. Ruby was a widow for 5 yrs. and then married Wells R. Singleton, who passed away in 1981. She was also preceded in death by her son, William Benjamin Joiner; daughter, Linda Joiner Page; brothers, Billy Ben, Charles, Eugene, James (Joyce) Maddox, all of Dublin; stepson, Richard Singleton. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon and Wilbur Burt of Rutledge, and Brenda and Doug Melancon of Houma, LA; stepson, Charles Singleton, FL; daughter-in-law, Melvie Joiner, High Springs, FL; sister-in-law, Juanita Maddox, Dublin; 7 grandchildren, Wesley Burt, Tony (Melissa) Page, Elizabeth Johnson, Ben (Denice) Melancon, Pam (Derrick) La Forge, Benny Joiner and Mark Joiner; 6 great grandchildren, Heather, Chayna, Austin, Andrew, Matthew, Morgan; great great granddaughter, Emma; a very dear cousin, Kathryn Jordan; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was cared for by Dr. Alexander Halkos for many years. The last months of her life were spent at Traditions Health and Rehab where she was cared for by many kind caregivers and the Affinis Hospice nurse, Chika. Ruby was member of the Avondale First Baptist Church and the Esther Sunday School Class for 25 yrs; Glenwood Hills Baptist Church for 30 yrs; Salvation Army Bible Study; Home League; and Fun Bunch for many years. A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock, Thursday, April 10, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Tommy Lankford, Major Grace Cumberbatch, S.A. and Chaplain Alex Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Gardens of Memory. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in her memory to The Salvation Army, Peachtree Corps, 3500 Sherrydale Lane, P.O.
