He was a member of the Community Church of Praise in Stockbridge and also a member of the Georgia Steel Guitar Association, where he served as Vice President for 8 years. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 21 years, Diane; son, John Evens of Ohio; stepson, Anthony Stanley of Loganville, sister, Judy Courtney and her husband, Doug, of Michigan; brother, David Evens and his wife, Connie, of Michigan; grandchildren, Lexie and Laney Starnes of Oxford; and Lana Evens of Ohio; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 1 o'clock, Thursday, December 17, in the Lithonia chapel of Henry Funeral Home, with Pastor Ken Smith officiating.
