Ricky Joe Cooper, 69, of Athens, formerly of Commerce, Georgia, died on November 15, 2023. Born in Atlanta, on February 12, 1954, Ricky was a man of many passions and talents. His adventurous spirit was reflected in his love for hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors, while his thoughtful nature was evident in his carpentry work.
A man who found tranquility in the heart of nature, Ricky especially loved deep sea fishing, a pastime that united his love for adventure and reflection. He was a respected member of the National Hunting Club and St. Catherine Laboure' Catholic Church in Jefferson, Georgia, where his faith was nurtured and his community ties strengthened.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram Cooper and Jimmie Kate Cooper, and his brothers, Dwayne Copper and Barry Cooper. He is survived by his aunt, Linda Cooper; cousin, Verba Cooper Brown; several extended family members and close friends.
A memorial service to honor Ricky's life will be held 12 o'clock Noon, Monday, December 4, 2023, at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 180 Elrod Rd., Jefferson, GA 30549.
