Rachel Ragsdale George, age 92, native of Lithonia, died peacefully at home on November 29, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Rachel was a lifelong member of Turner Hill Baptist Church and a true child of God. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved God and her family and dedicated her life to the service of others.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Lewie George; parents, Ernest and Ora Mell Ragsdale; sister, Anna Laura; and her son-in-law, Jack Dillman.
Surviving are her daughter, Lynda Dillman of Covington; sons, Charles George of Woodstock, Ronnie George and his wife, Phyllis, of Dallas; grandchildren, Lori Frix and her husband, Roger, of Covington, Amy Cornett and her husband, Bryan, of Duluth, Shannon Groover and her husband, Michael, and Chad George and his wife, Jennifer, both of Dallas, Ga. She was a proud grandmother to nine great grandchildren, Randall, Ryan and Ashley Frix, Brayden and Marissa Groover, Joshua and Kylie Cornett, Everett and Asher George; great-great grandson, Jackson Frix. Also surviving is one sister, Evelyn Reagan; two brothers, Billy Ragsdale and his wife, Virginia, and Bobby Ragsdale and his wife, Eula; one brother-in-law, Fred Stephenson; many nieces and nephews. Who can find a virtous woman? For her price is far above rubies. We had one and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock Friday, December 2, 2016 at Turner Hill Baptist Church, Lithonia with Rev Lanny Myers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends 5-8 Thursday evening at Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia.
