Oleta Sheats Mitchell was born July 29, 1931 in Atlanta, GA to the late Theresa Marie and Samuel David Sheats and passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021. She attended West Fulton High School and in 1962 started her career at the Bureau of Labor Statistics in Downtown Atlanta. In 1991, she retired from her job and became a full- time grandmother and great grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they were most definitely the light of her life. She loved to cook, bake cookies, do crossword puzzles and to travel especially to St Augustine, Florida (her happy place). She was known for her delicious potato salad by all her fellow church members. She was one of a kind and will be missed by all those that had the pleasure of knowing her. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert Samuel Mitchell; daughter, Marie Mitchell Hawley; parents, Theresa and Sam Sheats; her sisters, Caroline Sheats and Delores Forrester. Those left to cherish her sweet memory are son, Clyde Mitchell and his wife, Debbie, of Social Circle, Ga; daughter, Sandra Parillo and her husband, Robert, of Social Circle, Ga; 7 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; multiple nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held 1 o'clock, Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Social Circle United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathy Morris officiating. An inurnment will take place at Social Circle Cemetery at a later date.
