Nellie Mae "Nancy" Goddard, died Sunday, November 3, 2019. She was born in Clarkston, to John and Odie Stephenson. Nancy was a member of Decatur Heights Baptist Church for many years and upon moving to Covington, she attended Belmont Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, baking, celebrating all holidays (especially Christmas), watching the Atlanta Braves, and playing UNO with family and friends which she made sure she would set aside one night a week. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Curtis Goddard; parents; son, Charles Goddard; brothers, Grady Stephenson, Raymond Stephenson, Lewis Stephenson, J.A. Stephenson, and Clyde Stephenson; sisters, Sarah Lyon and Ruth Simpkins. Surviving are her daughter, Alice Barton of Conyers; grandchildren, Brenda Butler and her husband, George, Toni Dodson, Kay Goddard; honorary grandson, Rusty Minar; daughter-in-law, Linda Goddard; nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock, Friday, November 8, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Dr. Alan Smith and Rev. Nolan Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Philadelphia Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Nancy's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105. The family will receive friends from 10 - 11 prior to the service at Henry Funeral Home.
