Obituary

Nancy Baker Wade, age 84, of Loganville, Georgia died November 19, 2021. Born in Oakwood, GA to parents Clyde Cecil Baker Sr. and Cora Leona Keith Baker she grew up in the Rosebud Community in Gwinnett County and was a graduate of Grayson High School. Nancy was a seamstress and gardener. She bowled in a bowling league for over 30 years. Nancy loved to bake and was very good at it. The lovely aromas coming from the oven while she baked remains vivid in our memories. Her daughter's love of baking comes directly from her Mom's passion for baked creations. She raised her family while her husband, who was in the Coast Guard, would be on duty for extended periods of time. After having three boys, Nancy wanted a girl in the family. Because of her they adopted a 3-and-a-half-year-old blond, blue eyed little girl who is forever thankful that Nancy wanted her so much she chose her. She loved her family more than anything else and family gatherings was the most important part of her life. Hosting holiday celebrations of all kinds gave her great joy. After her husband Allen retired, they traveled the US and Canada in their RV. Camping was a great adventure for them. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Allen Wade, Sr.; parents, Leon and Leona Walters and Clyde and Sarah Baker; sister, Dorothy Jean Walters; brothers, Graham Baker, Thomas Baker, West Baker, Alvin Walters, and Norton Walters. Surviving are children and their spouses, Sherri and Brian Hurd of Morrison, Colorado; Al and Laura Wade of Maquoketa, Iowa, Terry and Angie Wade of Loganville, Georgia and Joe and Teresa Wade of Greer, South Carolina; sister and her husband, Vada and Gary Timberlake of Buckhead, Georgia; brothers, Clyde Baker, Jr. and his wife, Yvonne, of Duluth, GA, and James Walters, and his wife, Jeannie, of Snellville, Georgia; ten grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 1 o'clock, Wednesday, November 24, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Center Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Loganville. The family will receive friends from 12-1 o'clock, Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
