Nancy Howard Smith, age 73, of Lithonia, died March 27, 2014 at her home from Lewy Body Dementia. Daughter of James B. and Catherine Howard, Nancy lived her early life in Decatur, where she was a 1958 graduate of Decatur High School. Her zeal for life ranged from homemaking-where she was an excellent cook, seamstress, and baker; to a love of animals- riding horses, and enjoying family dogs. She had a passion for music, singing and playing the piano. Outdoors, she enjoyed bush hogging with her John Deere tractor, shooting her gun, riding motorcycles, driving her '73 black Ford pick- up truck, and long walks on the beach. Friends will always remember her delightful parties, especially the Halloween parties in the hay loft! Nancy still had time to work 34 years as the corporate secretary for Voice Communications, Inc., But her love belonged to her family which came first in her life. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Edgar "Ed" Smith; daughter, Heather McCullough and her husband, Dan, of Gray; sons, Chris Smith and his wife, Billie, of Lithonia, Scott Smith and his wife, Trish, of Conyers, and Coleman Smith and his wife, Heather, of Oxford; brother, Robert Howard and his wife, Barbara, of Cumming; 6 grandchildren, Ryan, Paige, Haley (Shea), Blake, Megan, and Kasey; nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 2 o'clock, Tuesday, April 1, at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, 3000 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, GA 30084, with Dr. Jim Martin officiating.
