Nancy Martin, age 82, of Stockbridge, Georgia, died June 26. 2024. Nancy was born in Buffalo, NY, on August 31, 1941, to the late Silas Albert Whitaker and Lottie Estella Davis Whitaker. She dedicated her life to the calling of education, serving many years as a teacher at Forest Park Middle School, influencing the lives of countless children with her wisdom and kindness. Additionally, she taught English to individuals learning it as a second language. An avid reader, Nancy found great joy in the world of books. She was a devout member of the Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church, where she found great comfort and community. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Lynn Spearman Martin and granddaughter, Savannah Martin. Survivors include her beloved husband of 63+ years, Joel Martin; sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell & Sandy Martin, David and Susan Martin, Daniel and Sandra Martin; sister, Beth Smith; 8 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, and extended family. A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock, Saturday, June 29, 2024, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home, 6833 Church St., Lithonia, with Pastor Darrell Gilmer officiating and interment following in Fairview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 at the funeral home.
