Mathew Shane Lester, age 37 of Covington, died June 3, 2020. He was born in Covington to Mike and Vicky Lester, and attended Newton County High School. Mathew enjoyed 'tinkering' with objects (taking things apart and reconstructing them), clowning around and making others laugh, and spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mercer and Martha Lester and maternal grandfather, OC Dowdy. Surviving are his children, Kaitlin Lester and Bradley Lester, both of Covington; parents, Mike and Vicky Lester; brother, Michael Lester and his wife, Devin, of Covington; granddaughter, Danie Faye Carter; maternal grandmother, Verdell Shope Jordan; nephews, Corey and Dylan Lester of Covington; several aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral service will be held 2 o'clock, Tuesday, June 9, at Way of the Cross Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8pm, Monday evening at the church.
