Mary Dell Kelly Mitchell, 76, of Covington, Georgia, died on October 28, 2024. She was born in Lithonia, GA, on September 19, 1948, to the now late Warren E. & Anna Kelly. Mary's love for children led her to work in several church nurseries throughout the years, and later she dedicated many years of her life to being a family caretaker, fulfilling both of these roles with much love. Her favorite place to visit was the beach, and she will be remembered as an exceptional mother and grandmother. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Valerie Pittman; grandson, Christopher Mitchell. Survivors include her son, Michael "Ike" Mitchell, Jr.; sisters and brother-in-law, Carla Kelly, Verba & Rickey Brown; brothers and sisters-in-law, Warren & Susan R. Kelly, Drew "Hill" & Bridget Kelly; grandchildren, Kimberly & Josh Thornton, James Pittman, Garrett Mitchell, Gracie Mitchell; 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family. A memorial service to honor Mary's life will be held 2 o'clock, Saturday, November 9, 2024, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia, with Dr. Jim Martin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday from 1-2 PM at the funeral home.
