Martha Jane Pilgrim Vaughn, age 85, of Sparta, Georgia, died April 26, 2021. She was born in Decatur, Georgia to Bill and Louise Pilgrim and was a graduate of Avondale High School class of 1954 and college classes at Marsh Business College. Martha worked as an Insurance Customer Service Representative for Byrd and Lancaster Insurance Agency for many years before retiring to McCaysville in the North Georgia Mountains. She was an active member of Glen Haven Baptist Church, then Chapel Heights and in her later years, McCaysville Baptist Church. Martha was a member of the Eastern Star, Panthersville Chapter and the "Red Hats." She was a "Crafty" crafter, some of which was spending time painting birdhouses and decorating Christmas shirts. She enjoyed planting flowers and working in the yard and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her biggest passion was getting ready for Christmas, where she went all out decorating all rooms inside and the house and yard outside. Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James Vaughn. Sr.; her parents, Bill and Louise Pilgrim; and her sister, Kathryn Webb. She is survived by her daughter, Beth and her husband Rickey Warbington of Sparta; son, Jimmy Vaughn, Jr. of Morganton; grandchildren, Daniel Bentley and wife, Christina, Will Baker and wife, Tiffany, Tyler Vaughn, Melissa Dixon, Cory Myers and wife Lindsey; great grandchildren, Alaina and Tripp Baker, Logan Vaughn, Nathan, James and Brie Bentley, Hayden Dixon, Paisley Myers and Mariah Robinson. A memorial service will be held 4 o'clock Thursday, April 29, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Dr. Butch Jackson officiating. Martha's family will receive friends and family one hour prior to service time.
