Martha Frances Hanson Scott, born November 14, 1924, spiritedly embraced a century of life before her death on November 17, 2024. "Mama Scott", as she was affectionately known to many, was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the now late Thomas and Mary Hanson, lived most of her life in Tucker and Conyers, and most recently resided in Canton. Martha was a sweet southern lady, embodying the true essence of southern charm and grace with a little sass.
At the age of 18, she married her beloved Robert Waymon Scott, Sr., just before his deployment during WWII. A short time later, they welcomed their only child, Robert Waymon "Wayne" Scott, Jr., who was the apple of her eye. After the early death of her husband, Waymon, she lived with Jane and Wayne for 40 years. She found her professional calling as an Executive Secretary at The London Agency, where her dedication and hard work were recognized for 30 years. Her hobbies included church activities and outings with her friends, cooking, and her weekly Mexican Train group; however above all, what mattered most to Mama Scott was her family.
A woman of deep-rooted faith, Mrs. Scott served as a Sunday School teacher at Tucker Baptist Church, but most of her service to the Lord was done during her 36 years at Rockdale Baptist, and most recently, Canton First Methodist Church. Her active involvement in the Senior Saints Choir, Women on Mission, JOY Sunday School Class, kitchen committee, Prayer Ministry and visitation reflected her servant's heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings: Florence Smith, Tom Hanson, George Hanson, Carlisle Hanson, Emmett Hanson, Howard Hanson and Marion Crumbley. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne & Jane Scott; grandchildren and their spouses, Courtni & Kasey Mitchell, Trey & Anna Scott; and her great-grandchildren, Chip Scott, Fisher Mitchell, Kaselynn Mitchell, Katie Scott, Henslee Scott, Jaycie Mitchell and Hudson Mitchell.
A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock, Friday, November 29, 2024, at Rockdale Baptist Church, 1295 Smyrna Road SW, Conyers, with Dr. Billy Moss officiating and interment following in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Tucker. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church on Friday from 10-11 AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in her memory to the Prayer Ministry of Rockdale Baptist Church.
