Martha Conner Plunkett, age 91 of Bishop, died May 19, 2018. Born in Gainesville to Thomas and Mellie Conner, she grew up in Apalachee and Madison, and graduated from Madison High School in 1945. Following graduation, she started her 20-year career with Southern Bell Telephone Company in Atlanta, where she was one of the first female managers. She married Charles Edward Plunkett of Lithonia in 1963. Surviving are her daughters, Lisa Rawls of Bishop, Mary Ryan of University Place, WA, sons Charles Plunkett, Jr of Tacoma, WA and Russell Plunkett of Lilburn; sisters June Bone of Madison and Beatrice Levine of Katy, TX, grandchildren Charles Ryan of Atlanta, Scott Ryan of Seattle, WA, Sarah Rawls of Charleston, SC and Trey Rawls of Athens, nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held at 3 o'clock Tuesday, May 22 in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home, with Dr. Jim Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Hillandale Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until service time Tuesday.
