Obituary

Marjorie Nell Lloyd, age 99, of Conyers, formerly of Lithonia, died January 22, 2021. Born in Lithonia, Georgia to James Birdie and Bessie Pearl Willis, she grew up in Lithonia, was a graduate of Lithonia High School, class of 1940, and worked for many years for Davison Mineral Properties as a payroll clerk. Nell was a very talented loving mother, crocheting (she crocheted the "23rd Psalm that is hanging in the foyer of the First Baptist Church of Lithonia); crocheted afghans for family members and friends; knitted sweaters for others, china painted, and worked with stained glass. But at the age of 66 she began to paint and excelled in this field. She would paint in her studio each day and give her paintings away to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, J.B. Willis and Bobby Willis; and sisters, Elizabeth Bush, Bess Hutchins and Marie Willis. Surviving are her daughters, Marsha Smith of Sumpter, SC, Ginger Harnstrom and her husband, Phil, of Fort Myers, FL, Dee Colquitt and her husband, Julian, of Seabrook Island, SC, and Marjorie Wilson and her husband, James, of Suwanee, FL; son, William Lloyd and Gayle Murray of Nicholasville, KY; nine grandchildren, whom she loved dearly filling their homes with her art they could remember her by; sixteen great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 1 o'clock, Friday, January 29, at Lithonia City Cemetery, with Dr. Jim Martin officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local Humane Society.
