Margaret "Marge" Christine Lucas, age 91, of Lithonia, died peacefully on February 10, 2014, of natural causes. Marge, whose maiden name was Riczu, was born in Virginia on May 27, 1922. Her parents were immigrants from Hungary who arrived here in the early 1900's. They settled in southeast Virginia where they farmed peanuts, while raising Marge and her sister Chris. Unfortunately, both parents died of TB before Marge was 10. The two girls then lived with their older sister. As a young woman, Marge moved to Washington DC and worked for TWA as a switch board operator in the 1940's. It was there she met Eugene Lucas who was a technical representative for Douglas Aircraft Company. After marrying in 1945, his job moved them to Santa Monica, CA; Washington DC; Oyster Bay NY; Cypress, CA; and finally settling and retiring in Decatur, GA in 1970. During all these moves, Marge was a great support to her husband, and was a fabulous cook, excellent seamstress, kept an immaculate home, and was a devoted mother. She was preceded in death by husband, Eugene and daughter, Christine. Surviving are her son Michael of Wasilla, AK; grandsons, Jacob of Bozeman, MT, and Douglas of Anchorage, AK; great grandchildren, Carter and Adella of Bozeman, MT; and sister, Chris, of Sebestapol, CA. Her remains have been cremated and her family is planning a private service at a later date.
