Mamie Carter Brown, age 70, of Conyers, died Tuesday, August 13, 2019, on her birthday. She attended Lithonia High School, worked for 27 years as a forklift operator for Lithonia Lighting and was a member of IBEW Local 613. Mamie enjoyed reading, fishing and spending time with her grandbabies and great-grandbabies. She was known for making the best banana pudding, potato salad and fried chicken in the world! Mamie was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Watson and Joyce Wilbanks Carter; brothers, Tony Carter, James Carter and Charlie Carter; nephews, Jeff Burroughs and Tommy Carter; and niece, Laurie Ann Burroughs. Surviving are her loving husband of 52 years, Henry Brown; daughters, Linda Lucas and her husband, Steve, of Covington, Beverly Pettit and her husband, Joe, of Conyers, and Becky Brown and her significant other, Lafey Hines, of Conyers; sisters, Charlotte Landress of Conyers and Brenda Searcy of Jasper; brother, Donald Carter and his wife, Linda, of Oxford; grandchildren, Michael Lucas and his wife, Ashley, Tera Adamson and her husband, Ray, Thomas Lucas, Michael Dawson, Jr., Bradley Dawson, and Eliza Hines; great-grandchildren, Amber, Rose and Peyton; nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 3 o'clock, Saturday, August 17, with remains placed in state at 2 o'clock at Way of the Cross Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Coleman, Pastor, Mack Goss and Rev. Nelson Goddard officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7, Friday afternoon at Henry Funeral Home.
