Donald Luther McPeak, age 78, of Social Circle, passed away July 26, 2015. Born May 16, 1937, in Roanoke, Virginia, Don grew up playing football at Jefferson High School in Roanoke, and later at Fort Union Military School and college football at Virginia Tech. Don loved people, and made his living as a salesman and later as a manufacturing representative where he retired after 25 years. He settled in Social Circle 20 years ago, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Social Circle, as well as an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by parents, Luther and Marigold McPeak; two brothers, Robert and Bill; and one grandchild. Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Barbara Smith McPeak; children, Jonathan McPeak, Marianne Johnson and husband Curtis, Randy Ballard and wife Amy, Kellie Bartlett and husband Tony, Melanie Morris and husband Rob; 13 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 12 o'clock, Saturday, August 8, at First Baptist Church of Social Circle, with Rev. Mike Hardy officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Nedra Jackson Mission Fund at Social Circle First Baptist Church.
