Ann Yarbrough Arrington

Lois Ann Yarbrough Arrington, longtime Lithonia resident, passed peacefully on September 20, 2026, surrounded by her family. She had recently celebrated her 94th birthday.

Ann was born August 23, 1932, in Thomaston, Georgia, the youngest of ten children born to Durward and Lois Kate Johnson Yarbrough. She grew up in Thomaston and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1950.  From the age of three, Ann displayed a remarkable talent for music and possessed the uncanny ability to play the piano by ear.  She attended Shorter College and Auburn University before marrying in 1952.

In her early years, Ann worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company in Atlanta.  After starting her family and moving to Lithonia, she became a homemaker and talented seamstress. During the 1960s, she made all of the majorette uniforms for Lithonia High School, as well as clothing for her children.  Her talents extended beyond sewing; Ann also had a natural knack for numbers and worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for several businesses, including Lithonia Lighting, Computax, Coffey Granite Company, and Viewmont Appaloosas.  Even after "retirement", she remained active and continued working in various roles, including with Rockdale County Schools in the cafeteria, Hallmark, and two antique shops.  She had a lifelong love of music, singing in the church choir and, in later years, with the Conyers-Covington Choral Guild.  Her appreciation for antiques and vintage items led her to spend her final working years assisting a cousin in the estate sale business.

Ann stayed active throughout her life, only slowing down after an ocular stroke impaired her vision.  She was dearly loved by her family and was a steady presence in their lives—the rock who helped keep them grounded in integrity, compassion for others, and a love of life.

Preceding her in death were her parents; nine siblings; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Stan Reese; son, Edward Arrington, Jr.; son-in-law, Loran Conner; and grandchildren, Amanda Conner and Adam Conner.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Jane Conner; grandchildren, Shannon McGinn (Coley), Shane Fisher, Malory Reese, Austin Arrington, and Dakota Arrington; great-grandchildren, Justin McGinn (Abbey), Cody McGinn (Kevin), Destiny McGinn, Noah Van Name, Phoenix Fisher, Zack Fisher (Lena), Star Fisher, Dakota Fisher, and Savannah Fisher; great-great-grandchildren, Angelo, Connor, Tatum, and Creed; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service where family and friends will gather to remember and celebrate Ann’s life will be announced at a later date.
