Lane Garner Prince, of Conyers, died May 15, 2022. She was a graduate of Lithonia High School, class of 1973. Lane was a long time member of Redan First Baptist Church and a current member of The Church at Stanton Springs, a sister church of Rockdale Baptist. Her church was important to her and even after she was unable to drive, friends would come by and take her to Bible Study and church. Lane worked for Atlanta Magazine in the early 80's before becoming a bus driver for the DeKalb County School System where she retired on May 28, 2021. She not only drove the children to and from school each day but also was requested by the different sports coaches to drive for their teams and was loved by all the students. During the day, between her bus driving duties, Lane had many part time jobs, which include sitting with elderly ladies at their home taking care of their needs, working at the florist and baking her famous Red Velvet Cakes. Lane was a devoted mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, and friend. She was known for her sense of humor and her giving spirit which was there to the end. Lane was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary Nell Garner. Surviving are her sons, Ronald Chase Prince and his wife, Jennifer, of Nashville, Tennessee and Raymond Blake Prince, Sr. and his wife, Linda, of Savannah, GA; grandsons, B.J. Prince and Sawyer Prince; sisters, Jackie Garner Bogan of Mansfield and Terri Lynn Garner of Conyers; nieces, Tanya Rowell and Jill Feeney; nephew, Josh Richardson; and many great nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock, Wednesday, May 18, at Rockdale Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Moss, Rev. Dwayne Jones and Rev. Nelson Goddard officiating. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm, Tuesday, May 17, at Henry Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday morning at the church. The interment will follow the service at Redan Cemetery, Redan, Georgia.
