Katherine "Kat" Lanford, age 80, of Covington, passed away August 2, 2015. Born in the mountains of North Georgia, in 1935, she learned the value of family and hard work. In 1954, she met her Ed and a year later they would marry. A marriage that would last 45 years and have two daughters, until Ed's passing in 2000. She was known by many things: giving, caring, a good listener, caretaker, grandma, mom. Kat loved card games and picnics in the park, feeding ducks, and fishing, but only with a cane pole, and loved her dog Conway, named after Country Music legend, Conway Twitty.
Kat was preceded in death by husband, Ed Lanford; parents, Percy and Grace Worley; and a granddaughter, Katie. Surviving are her daughters, Denise Lanford, Karen Lopshire and husband David; granddaughters, Kim and Chelsea.
A graveside service will be held 11 o'clock Friday, August 7, 2015 at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta. The family will receive friends 6-8, Thursday at Henry Funeral Home, Social Circle.
