Obituary

His family moved to Lithonia when he was a young child, where you might find him at the street corner, standing on an apple crate preaching. A very giving person: he visited the Starcrest Nursing Home often, sharing laughter, bringing gifts and showing love to the elderly; he volunteered at DeKalb Medical Center in many areas of the hospital, especially the Neo Natal unit where he would rock the preemies , this was special to him since he was a premature baby himself. Music was important to Neal, he had a large collection of records and a beautiful singing voice. Collecting porcelain birds and loving and caring for 'real' cats, especially his cat 'Mandy' was special to him.. He was known for his since of humor and making friends laugh.. Neal was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Merle Storey; sister, Linda Colburn; niece, Wendy Thompson; and special aunts and uncles. Surviving are his partner of 26 years, Edward Lynn, of Tucker; sisters, Deborah S. Chambless and husband, Jerry, and Mary S. Matthews and husband, Charles, all of Conyers (Neal nicknamed his sisters 'Olive Oil' and 'Britches'); several nieces and nephews; family members; a very good friend of the family, Dr. Jim Martin, who was a spiritual support to Neal; and his loving and accepting church family at Northeast.
