Service: 11 o'clock Saturday, December 5, Place: Lithonia Chapel of Henry Funeral Home Interment: Bairds Cemetery Visitation: 10:00 - 11:00 Saturday morning Place: Henry Funeral Home Lithonia AMS1, John Young Steele, US Navy Retired, age 89, of Gulf Port, Mississippi, died November 30, 2015. He was born in Bairdstown, GA and was a member of Bairdstown Baptist Church. An Aviation Metal Smith for 20 years in the US Navy, he served in World War II and the Korea War. After his retirement from the US Navy, he went to work for Eastern Airlines, where he retired after 23 years of service. John was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Gladys Steele; wife, Elizabeth Steele; step-daughter, Margaret Pyle; brother, Edward Steele and his wife, Pat. Survivors include his sister, Marilyn S. Erskine Gladue and her husband, Richard, of Conyers; step-granddaughter, Denise Parks; step-grandson, Michael Pyle; nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock, Saturday, December 5, in the Lithonia chapel of Henry Funeral Home, with Rev. Leigh Jones officiating.
