John Charles Powalowski, age 74, of Monroe, Georgia, died June 14, 2020. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, to Frank and Leah Powalowski. After graduating from Whitmer High School, he served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. John was a tool and die maker and worked for Lithonia Lighting for many years. He enjoyed working on cars, watching NASCAR races and game shows, and spending time with his children and grandchildren who he loved dearly. Surviving are his loving wife, of 49 years, Sue Jackson Powalowski of Monroe, Georgia; daughters, Lisa (Jason) Hosler of Middleberry, Indiana, Amy (Kevin) Garver of Conyers, Georgia, Erin Burke and Brittany Powalowski, both of Monroe, Georgia; brother, Frank (Kathy) Powalowski of Toledo, Ohio; sisters, Sue Nevers of Iowa and Sally (Jon) Lippert of Jacksonville, Florida; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 2 o'clock, Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Philadelphia Baptist Church, with Rev. Steven Chambers officiating.
