Ruth "Joann" Collins, age 71, of Covington, formerly of Lithonia, died Thursday, December 20, 2018. Joann was born to Burl and Idel Payne and attended Lithonia High School. She was preceded in death by son, Tony Collins; sisters, Annie Mae Broadnax, Betty Jean Thibadeau and Mary Lou Cody; brothers, Joe Burl Payne, Charles Payne and Bill Payne. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Joann was survived by her husband of 56 years, Joe Collins; sons, Steve Collins and his wife, Shlaine, of Loganville, Chris Colllins and his wife, Beth, of Covington; grandchildren, Katie Heermans, Kurt Collins, Sarah Beth Robuck, Jackson Collins, Logan Collins, and Brooke Collins; siblings, Tommy Forrester of Lithonia, Eula Burt of Lithonia, and Lois Wilson of Covington. A funeral service will be held 1 o'clock, Saturday, December 22, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Franklin officiating. Interment will follow at East Lithonia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8, Friday evening at Henry Funeral Home.
