Jesse David White, age 68, of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Covington, Georgia, died May 7, 2022, at his residence. Born in Atlanta, GA to Kathleen and Carl White, he grew up in DeKalb County and was a graduate of Walker High School. Jesse met his future wife, Libby, at Cherokee Baptist Church, where they were toddlers in the nursery. He retired from Southern Gas Company formerly known as Atlanta Gas Co. after 47 years of service. Jesse was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Conyers and was actively involved in Philadelphia Christian School, where he and his wife volunteered as chaperones for many trips, heading up fundraisers and working at all school athletic activities. Jesse and Libby also faithfully attended Newton Baptist Church for the last eight years they lived in Georgia. After moving to Jacksonville, Florida, they joined Immanuel Baptist Church where they were devoted members. His family was important to Jesse, and he was a loving husband, father and "Papaw" to his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Timothy White. Surviving are his devoted wife of almost 50 years, Katherine Neal 'Libby' White, of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Michelle Roach and her husband, Wesley, of Jacksonville, FL; son, Michael White and his wife, Kelley, of Mansfield, GA; brother, Otis White, Jr. and special friend, Luz Merizalde, of Sharpsburg, GA; brother-in-law, Herman Thomas Neal and his wife, Becky, of Jacksonville, FL: grandchildren, Drew Roach, Jordan Roach, Brooke White, Autumn White, Savannah White, and Charlotte White; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock, Friday, May 13, 2022, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home, with Pastor Rusty Smith and Pastor Greg Neal officiating. The interment will follow at Westview Cemetery, 1680 Westview Drive, Atlanta, GA 30310. The family will receive friends from 5-8pm Thursday evening at the funeral home.
