Nathan Gerald "Jerry" New age 68, passed away March 18, 2023. Born on December 4, 1954, to Charles G. and Barabra Ann New, Jerry was a 1972 Graduate of Lithonia High School; active for many years with the Sons of the Confederacy in Georgia; and one time served as the President of the North Georgia Twins Motorcycle Club. He worked at several occupations over the years and had worked for the last 15 years in the tax field with different companies. He loved people and was always willing to help anyone in need. Jerry always had a story to tell about his experiences over the years. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother; grandparents, Ben and Maggie Almand and Charlie and Mary New. He is survived by his fiance, Rhonda Barbaree; son, Harold New (Liberty); daughter, Nia Poirer (Dustin); step-son, Jay Hammett (Sheila); 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; father, Charles New; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. A memorial service will be held 12 o'clock, noon, Saturday, March 25, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home, with Rev. John Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his memory to either the American Cancer Society or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
