Jeanette R. Hendry, age 91, of Conyers, died October 23, 2023. Born on October 5, 1932, in Atlanta, Jeanette was a beacon of compassion, humanity, and support, characteristics that were deeply rooted in her southern upbringing. Despite never having been formally employed, Jeanette was a devoted mother, not only to her own children but to countless children in her community who affectionately knew her as the neighborhood mother. Her thoughtful nature and generous spirit were evident in the love she gave to everyone around her. Jeanette attended Heritage Hills Baptist Church in Conyers when she was able. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Her passion for nurturing and guiding young ones was a gift she shared with many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren whom she helped raise throughout her life. Her hobbies extended beyond her front porch, where she could often be found with a child on her lap or sharing a heartwarming story. Jeanette's life was a testament to the power of love, compassion, and community. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her. Jeanette was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Craig; mother, Rosalee Chambers Craig; husband of 57 years, Drewey William "Bill" Hendry; son, Thomas Turner; 4 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, DW and Elaine Hendry, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Michael Vitro; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family. A memorial service will be held 1 o'clock, Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Heritage Hills Baptist Church, 2987 Hwy. 212, Conyers, Georgia, with Pastor Tim Barnette officiating.
