James Henry "Bud" Pruett, age 88, of Lithonia died October 2, 2017. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a Bronze Star recipient. Bud was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Lithonia for many years, where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Betty Pruett. Surviving are his son, Eddie Pruett and his wife, Alison, of Wedowee, AL; sister-in-law, Betty Darby of Lithonia; grandsons, James Pruett and his wife, Lindsey, of Milton and Robert Pruett and his wife, Joanna, of Chattanooga, TN; great grandchildren, Parker, Coleman, Glenn-Elizabeth, Ren, Cameron, Aubrey, and Emma Pruett. A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock Thursday, October 5, in the Lithonia Chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Lindsay and Dr. Jim Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Hillandale Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 5 - 7 Wednesday evening at Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in his memory to the First Baptist Church of Lithonia Benevolence Fund, P.O. Box 378, Lithonia, GA 30058.
