James Joseph "JJ" Compton, age 85, died Sunday, January 8, 2017. JJ served as a Recruiting Officer for the U.S. Army for over 22 years and worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for 20 years. He enjoyed collecting coins and playing shuffle board at the Senior Center, and received a medal in shuffle board during the Senior Olympics in Macon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Teresa Compton, and parents, James and Ann Compton. Surviving are his son, Jim Compton and his wife, Sherry, of Conyers; grandchildren, Clay Fancher and his wife, Sherie, of Loganville, Leah Root and her husband, Andy, of Tocoma, WA, Matt Fancher and his wife, Julie, of Monroe; 9 grandchildren. Service arrangements to be announced at a later date.
