James R. "Russ" Austin of Loganville, Georgia passed away on May 27, 2020. He is survived by his wife, of 28 1/2 yrs., Joi Austin; three children, James R. Austin, Jr., Jonathan R. Austin and Jenna L. Austin; father, James M. Austin, Jr.; brother, Randy M. Austin; niece, Nicole Lassitter; great niece, Karah Lassitter; and two great nephews, Logan Lassitter and Owen Lassitter. Russ was preceded in death by his mother, Lovelace Austin; grandparents, Margret and James Blackwood and Bess and James Austin. He enjoyed family, fishing, and sports. (umpiring and refereeing softball, baseball, volleyball, and basketball). Russ worked for himself most of his life, selling used auto parts and also worked for an independent contractor as a point of purchase marketer traveling over the state of Georgia, which he enjoyed. He was a great husband, father, brother, and son, he loved his family. Russ was a wonderful jokester and prankster. He loved life and we know he is in heaven with the Lord and family. We will forever miss him! A memorial service will be held 11 o'clock, Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Woodlake Baptist Church, 3940 Hwy 138, Covington, GA. Please be cautious about COVID 19 restrictions and please use CDC guidelines. We will have elderly family members attending and want to take precautions. So bring a mask. Thanks!
