On Saturday, June 13, 2020, Jackie Jones, loving wife of 57 years and mother of three children, went home to Jesus at the age of 78. Jackie was born on December 10, 1941, just three days after Pearl Harbor to Dorothy and Ed Clary. She grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina where she met her across the street neighbor, Charles Jones, and married him 6 years later on April 4, 1963 after finishing 2 years of business school at King's College. They raised two children, Emily and Devin. She worked as a church secretary at both Indian Creek Baptist and Decatur First Baptist Church until retirement at age 62. Jackie loved books and music. She even set up the church library at the First Baptist Church of Lithonia as well as singing alto in choirs all her life. If she wasn't working or being with her children, you would find her reading a book. She also loved North Carolina basketball and Atlanta Braves baseball, rarely missing a game either by radio or television, where she would "help" the team by yelling advice. She was known for her quiet spirit and smile, always ready to help anyone in need. Jackie joined her family in heaven--her mother, Dot, her father, Ed, her daughter, Karen, sister, Julie, and brother, Jerry. She leaves behind her husband, Charles, daughter, Emily and son, Devin, as well as her grandsons, Matthew, Hunter and Fletcher, and her granddaughter, Elizabeth, as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins. Drive thru visitation will be offered on Wednesday, June 17 from 7-8 pm at Park Place Baptist Church (4576 Lenora Church Road, Snellville, GA30039). Social Distancing will be observed and masks are highly recommended. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lydia Project at www.lydiacambodia.com
