Jack Amiel Phillips, age 80, of Stockbridge, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022. He was born and raised in Campobello, South Carolina, to Scott and Eunice Phillips. From 1960-1964, while stationed in California, Jack served his country honorably in the United States Navy and was promoted to E5 by the end of his service. Jack came to Lithonia, Georgia in 1964. He was a true entrepreneur in every sense of the word. Jack owned and managed a garage/ service station in Redan while also working at General Motors. He then ventured in the used cars and parts industry during which he invested in rental property. Jack took a step further and invested in a landfill, all the while still being true to his real love - cars. He had a true passion for selling and tinkering with cars while teaching his sons the ins and outs of his business. Jack was truly a God fearing man, who loved his family and he was the perfect example of how to love the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Brandon Phillips; and grandson, Cole Xuereb. Surviving is his wife of 35 years, Susan, of Stockbridge; sons, Chris Phillips and his wife, Emilea, of Stockbridge, and Jay Phillips of Stockbridge; daughters, Kim Moon and her husband, Jeff, of Social Circle, and Shannon Phillips of Social Circle; grandchildren, Jessica and Mike Harris, Julian and Hailey Xuereb, Dustin and Avery Moon, Presley Phillips and Brecken Phillips; brothers, Wayne Phillips and his wife, Sharon, of Stockbridge, and Roger Phillips and his wife, Sue, of Landrum SC; sisters, Joan Lockhart and her husband, Johnny, of Landrum SC, Crystal Perry and her husband, Glenn, of Greer, SC, and Anita Barnett and her husband, Jerry, of Campobello, SC; mother-in-law, Carol Bergen and her husband, Lenny, of Duluth; sister-in-law, Leslie Cone and her husband, Jon, of Douglasville; nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:30, Saturday, September 17, 2022, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park, with military honors, 201 Mt. Vernon RD. NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 prior to the service at the funeral home.
