Hortence Mitchell Anderson, age 94, of Conyers, died May 25, 2023. She was born in Avondale Estates to Ora George and James Mitchell and was a graduate of Lithonia High School. Hortence retired from Complete Auto Transit where she worked as an accounting clerk. Bingo was her favorite pastime, playing most every night of the week and many times on the weekend. Hortence was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Eugene Anderson; parents; daughter, Linda Bailey; son, Danny Crews; brother, Paul Mitchell; sister, Estell Corley; and grandchildren, Stacey Stallings and Terry Merritt. Surviving are her son, Jimmy Crews and his wife, Robin, of Covington; daughter, Brenda Merritt, and her husband, Jeff, of Lithonia; daughter-in-law, Bobbi Crews of Covington; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 2 o'clock, Tuesday, May 30, in the Chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Jon Fennell officiating. Interment will follow at the Lithonia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
