Obituary

Homer L. Biffle, age 93, of Monroe, formerly of Lithonia, went home to be with his Lord on February 17, 2023. He was born in Avondale Estates to Roland and Grace Biffle. Homer worked for many years for Owens/ Illinois Glass starting as a lift driver and was promoted to warehouse supervisor. He enjoyed gardening and raising day lilies and he, definitely had a green thumb. Betty, Homer's wife, called Ken Cook, an Atlanta TV news reporter, to come to Homer's Garden to see his 3 lb. 3oz. prize tomato. Ken was quite impressed! He enjoyed watching birds, especially blue birds. He also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and the Falcons whenever he could. Homer loved God and going to church to fellowship with other believers. Family was important to Homer, talking with them usually on a daily basis. He would share encouraging quotes with them, one of which was "Keep looking up, you will see more that way." Homer was a very humble man with a great sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Betty; parents; sisters, Ethel Torbush and Imogene Taylor; brothers, Sam, Henry, John, Bo and James Edward. Surviving are his daughter Lynn Klein and husband, Denny, of Monroe; sons, Lamar Biffle and wife, Carol, of Stockbridge, and Michael Biffle and wife, Rebecca, of McDonough; sister, Margaret Compton of Augusta; grandchildren, Richard, Lisa, Mark, David, Justin, Elizabeth, Jordan, Brian, and Kimberly; several great- grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild; many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock, Tuesday, February 21, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Berrong officiating. The interment will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery on Panola Road. The family will receive friends Monday, from 1 to 5 o'clock at Henry Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, GA 38105
