Hazel Cook Chupp, age 89, of Newborn, formerly of Lithonia, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019. Born in Marietta, Georgia to parents, Ralph and Clara Cook, she was a 1946 graduate of McEachern High School. Hazel loved the Lord, her family, her church and fishing. She played an active part in her sons' education by participating in the PTA, where she was honored by receiving the "PTA Lifetime Member Award for the State of Georgia". She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Morris; brother. Ray Cook; sisters, Dot Brown and Gladys Hutson. Surviving are her sons and their wives, Tim and Debbie Chupp of Oxford and Chris and Dodie Chupp of Newborn; brothers, Billy Cook and his wife, Brenda, of Kennesaw, Alton Cook and his wife, Gerry of Dallas, GA, Walter Cook and his wife, Joan, of Dallas, GA; grandchildren, Jay and Ivy Chupp, Hanna Chupp, Marcie and Eric Eldred, Jeremy and Rachel Chupp, Cortney and Brandon Wilbanks, Mandie and Micah Cushing, and Matthew Chupp; 11 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2 o'clock , Monday, March 4, at Union Grove Baptist Church, with remains placed in state at 1:30. Rev. Tim Chupp and Rev. Paul Wimpey will officiate.. Interment will follow at the Newborn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-7 pm, Sunday at Henry Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Newborn Memorial Cemetery, 128 Steve Polk Rd., Newborn, GA 30056.
