Gloria J. Parker, age 88, of Clarkston, died May 24, 2016. She graduated from Girls High School in Atlanta and was a member of the famous Georgia All Girls Band. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Diane Parker; son, Dewey "Buster" Parker III; granddaughter, Jessica Joseph; parents, John and Sadie Pennington; sisters, Mary Beusse, Hilda Beall and Annemerle Pope; brothers, William Pennington, John Herman Pennington, and Alva Lee Pennington. Surviving are her husband of 69 years, Dewey "Jack" Parker, Jr; daughters, Donna Naugle and her husband, Eddie, of Snellville, and Beverly Parker of Ravalli, Montana; son, Michael Parker and his wife, Jackie, of Pensacola, Florida; grandchildren, Amy Naugle, Joey Naugle, and Jennifer Whelan; great grandchildren, John Michael Joseph, Jackson Tyler Joseph, and Logan Naugle; two very special nieces who were more like "sisters", Betty McCool and Marianne Sabatka; several other nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff of the Yellow Brick House who cared for Gloria the last 2 1/2 years and the staff of Bridgeway Hospice. A graveside service will be held 1 o'clock Saturday, May 28 at the Lithonia City Cemetery with Dr. Jim Martin officiating. The family will receive friends 11:30 - 1:00 at Henry Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to your favorite charity in her memory.
